What is the Dog House Food Academy? We are excited to introduce a new program for our members as well as any friends, family, or other community members. Yes, you heard that correctly- we want you to bring your friends! The Food Academy will be a series of short meetings and interactive demonstrations aimed at helping you become more knowledgeable about nutrition and wellness in order to better support your health, and performance.
What’s it all about? The foundation of the program is built on 3 key elements:
*Coaching: Providing the guidance and information you need to learn how to eat healthy and providing feedback on how you’re doing to help you adjust and learn quickly.
*Social Support: One of the greatest factors of success, receiving support and being a part of a community helps us stick with what we started.
*Accountability: Personal responsibility and regularly checking in to report on how you’re doing and checking in on others.
How will this work? Every 2-3 weeks for ~12 weeks, we will hold a session after Thursday night open gym to cover different topics related to nutrition as well as broader health and wellness topics. Each session we will include an interactive component to allow you to practice some of the new skills we’ll be discussing. More importantly, there will be food for you to try! Though the outline will build on the material covered in the previous session, it is OK if you are not able to attend all events and we’ll be sure to share any important information with those who could not attend. Specific dates and times will be posted on the DH website. We will provide the planned course outline as well as a PDF of each session on the website (under the Food Academy tab). We will adjust topics as needed depending on feedback from the group.
This sounds like an awesome program. How do I sign up? So that we know how many people are interested and can better plan for each session, please join the DHFA group on Facebook and use the event invitations or message board to let us know which sessions you’ll be able to attend and what you’d like to get out of it. Actively participating will be important not only for your own success but also to the success of others in the group so we hope to keep the conversation going between the actual meetings times.

*We encourage all members to take measurements at the start of the program so we can better track progress and learn how to adjust to continue working toward our goals. Courtney and other coaches will be available to take circumference and caliper measurements. To sign up please click here
